Each grade band is built for the ages it serves, so students meet every concept in terms they can genuinely understand, and carry that understanding with them.

Students are online years before anyone teaches them how to be

Schools already teach children to cross a road and to swim. Being online is the environment they spend the most unsupervised time in.

There is a second reason, and it arrives later. Cybersecurity has a documented workforce shortage, and it is one of the few fields a student can aim at without a four year degree. Students who meet it at fourteen make different choices than students who meet it at twenty two.

In a 2025 Family Online Safety Institute survey, parents ranked their child's online safety as their single greatest concern, ahead of physical and mental health.

What a student actually does

A lab is not a video or a slideshow. It is a situation the student has to work out. Here is one, for kindergarten through second grade.

A ninth grader doing the same thing looks completely different: a simulated desktop with a terminal, working a network fault layer by layer. Same principle, thirteen years apart.

Aligned to nationally recognized standards

Every lab is mapped to a specific published learning standard, so coverage is reported per standard rather than per course. That is the difference between showing a board which courses students enrolled in and showing them which parts of a recognized framework those students actually worked through.

Our curriculum is mapped to the CYBER.ORG K-12 Cybersecurity Learning Standards, developed with support from the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, and we map to further nationally recognized frameworks including CSTA for computer science and ISTE for digital citizenship.

Labs run from about ten minutes in the early grades to a full class period in high school. Older students can stop and resume. Full curriculum detail.

No cybersecurity background required

The most common reason cybersecurity does not get taught is that nobody on staff feels qualified to teach it. The labs teach the content, so the teacher runs the class rather than the subject.

NexGen Secure acts as a school official under FERPA, using records under your authority for your educational purposes, and is designed to COPPA requirements.
